Beverly Stephen
2014

Beverly Stephen joined the staff of Food Arts magazine in 1990 as a senior editor/writer and has been executive editor since 1999. Previously, she worked as a writer, editor and columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle and the New York Daily News. During her newspaper career, she covered women's issues, contemporary culture, lifestyles, food, fashion and travel. Coincidentally one of her plum assignments at the Daily News was a groundbreaking culinary event showcasing American chefs that Michael and Ariane Batterberry staged to celebrate the first anniversary of Food & Wine magazine which they had recently founded. At the time neither suspected they would devote the next decades to promoting American chefs at another Batterberry publication called Food Arts. She is an enthusiastic cook and an appreciative eater and has been blessed by having men in her life who are even better cooks. Beverly has a master’s degree in journalism from the University of California at Berkeley and is a graduate of the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City.
