Chef Wesley True 2025 Tennessee Inman Social Wesley True was born in Mobile, Alabama, and raised in both Mobile and Houma, Louisiana. He discovered his passion for the culinary arts while attending The University of Mississippi at Oxford. As his interest in the art form evolved, he attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. Upon graduating in 2001, he worked in many well-known Michelin Star kitchens, including those of Marcus Samuelson’s Aquavit, Brad Farmerie’s Public, Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill, Cesar Ramirez’s Bouley, and under Gordon Ramsay at The London Hotel. In 2007, True returned to Mobile, where he opened his namesake TRUE, where his dedication to fresh seasonal ingredients and singular culinary execution earned him a reputation as one of the best chefs in the region. While at TRUE, he was a semi-finalist in 2011 and 2012 for the James Beard “Best Chef—South” Award. He served as the chef spokesperson for the Alabama Gulf Seafood Board. Change called again in 2014 when True moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to become the Executive Chef of the celebrated Optimist Restaurant. He has appeared and competed on Bravo’s “Top Chef” and The Food Network’s “Beat Bobby Flay.” He has been featured in USA Today, Southern Living, and Garden and Gun. In 2020, He, his wife, Bobbi, and their young son moved to Cleveland, Tennessee, where True opened Inman Social, offering a contemporary take on authentic Italian-American Cuisine.
