Chef Ferrell Alvarez has dedicated 34 years to the hospitality business. Based in Tampa, FL, he co-owns and operates five concepts as a partner in Proper House Group.

His flagship, Rooster and the Till, has earned numerous accolades, including a Michelin Bib Gourmand award since 2022, a James Beard Semi-finalist nod for Best Chef South, and the Tampa Bay Times' number one restaurant in 2018, 2019, and 2025. At Rooster and the Till, the Chef’s progressive global cuisine respects his city and Latin heritage while pushing boundaries.

Proper House Group continues to expand its brand and focus on future growth. Most recently, PHG opened its two largest projects to date at Water St, Tampa: Ash and Alter Ego. Ash, which offers modern Italian cuisine, was awarded the Tampa Bay Times’ 11th best restaurant in 2025. Alter Ego is a music-focused cocktail lounge that hosts DJs from around the globe six nights a week.
