Chef Alexis Indest 2025 Lafayette Whiskey and Vine Chef Alexis Indest was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was raised in a large Mexican family where cooking was a way of life, so much so that she would stay up late to watch PBS cooking shows to learn more. This love of cooking stayed with her over the years, leading her to the Texas Culinary Academy in Austin in 2006, where she got her culinary degree and met her husband, Matt. They then moved to South Louisiana in 2007 and have been positively impacting the food community ever since. Chef Indest is well-known for her time as a chef at Bon Temps Grill, where she came up with countless dishes until 2019. Upon leaving Bon Temps Grill, she and Matt opened their restaurant, Preservation Café, in New Iberia, Louisiana. This establishment was well-loved by the community from the early days to its closing in early 2023. Now, chef Indest’s story has come full circle, with her working alongside Steven and Patrick O’Bryan, owners of Bon Temp Grill, as the executive chef at their New Orleans inspired lounge, Whiskey & Vine. The versatility of the job is a favorite of chef Indest’s, especially the culinary industry’s unique way of keeping you on your toes. In all her years as a chef, she has only grown to love it more. Chef Indest enjoys spending her free time with her husband, their three children, and their family dog. One of her favorite activities outside the house is fishing with her husband.
