Chef Michael Brewer, of The Sammich restaurant in New Orleans, will represent Louisiana in the Great American Seafood Cook-Off on Saturday, Aug. 8.

Barnegat Light Scallops Headed for National Cook-Off

Barnegat Light scallops starred in the winning dish in a statewide seafood cooking contest and will now go national. The 2015 Jersey Seafood Challenge, held at Viking Village dock in Barnegat Light June 25, pitted top chefs from around the state. The contest is coordinated by the N.J. Department of Agriculture and the New Jersey Chapters of the American Culinary Federation.

As wonderful as blue crabs are to eat, there is no doubt that, for the average person, blue crab meat is tough to get out of the animal’s shell.
