The History and Culture of a Louisiana Backyard Boil

On a given spring or summer weekend, many Louisiana residents will head to the backyard and turn on the propane under a seafood-stuffed pot instead of firing up a grill. The seafood boil has moved beyond tradition to become part and parcel of our fair weather schedules. 

Lt. Gov. Dardenne, Seafood Board Announce 2015 King of Louisiana Seafood

Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne announced chef Mike Brewer of The Sammich in New Orleans as the 2015 King of Louisiana Seafood. Brewer earned the title today at the eighth annual Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off presented by the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board. His dish of Sheepshead Nachos with Bacon Fat Tartar Sauce and Charred Corn Salsa won over the judges and earned him the title.

Lt. Gov. Dardenne, Seafood Board Announce 2015 LA Seafood Cook-Off

Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne and the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board will crown the 2015 King of Louisiana Seafood at the eighth annual Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 23, at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans as part of the New Orleans Wine and Food Experience. Doors open at 2 p.m., and 10 chefs from top Louisiana restaurants representing all corners of the state will compete. See Full Press Release
